Sequently
Listen. Remember. Repeat. A memory game where colours sing, and every round adds one more tone.
In development. A prototype plays on my desk every day; there is no release date yet.
A friend sent you a tune

The notes are hidden, so you can find them by ear first.
Want to play it first? Open it in Sequently. Listening here, the notes and the composer give the tune away.
To play it yourself, open this link on your iPhone with Sequently. Sequently is not in the App Store yet, so for now you can listen here, play it on a piano (the note names are above), or paste the link into the prototype: Songbook, Friends, Paste.
This link looks damaged. Ask your friend to send it again, ideally without the chat app “improving” it.
The game
- Listen, then repeatThe dots light up one after another, each with its own tone. Tap them back in the same order. One more tone every round, until your memory politely resigns.
- Four ways to playThe classic with four dots, a full octave with eight, famous tunes tone by tone, and tunes the game composes on the spot. In major and minor.
- A songbook to fillPlay a famous tune to the end and guess its name to keep it: forty of them, from nursery rhymes to Beethoven. All of them public domain, of course.
- Compose and challengeWrite your own tune, send it as a QR code or a link, and watch your friends try to play it back. Revenge is a dish best served in A minor.

Send a tune
In Sequently you can write a tune of up to 32 tones and send it as a QR code or a link. The link leads here. If your friend has the app, it opens there and they play your tune tone by tone. If not, they can at least listen to it on this page and see the notes, which is also a perfectly good excuse to dig out the old keyboard.
The whole tune lives in the link, behind the #. That part never leaves your browser: it is not sent to any server, not even to this one. No accounts, no uploads, nothing to delete later.
Try it: a short tune I wrote. Or tap the dots at the top of the page, they sing too.
No app needed to write one: the composer works right here in the browser, just like Compose in the game, and makes the link, the QR code and a picture to share.
